Where They Stand summarizes a politician's position on a defined issue using published evidence such as official votes, sponsorship or cosponsorship records, and attributable public statements. Each published position is tied to cited evidence and reviewed before it becomes public.
What They Promised records campaign or public commitments that can be attributed to a politician and dated to a specific source. A promise is not the same thing as a current policy position: the two features use separate records and are presented separately.
Act Summaries condense key provisions of selected legislation. They are prepared from official bill or public-law material, with source links and review metadata where available. A summary is an explanation of the source, not legal advice and not a substitute for the full text.
Voting records and official statements are handled as source-specific records. News items retain their publication links and source labels. Lightning Vote does not treat a user post, a news report, or an incomplete upstream response as an official government record.
Lightning Vote intentionally shows Not Yet Available when a verified, evidence-backed position has not been published for a topic. That state means the page is not making a position claim; it is not a prediction or a fabricated stance.
