By creating a Lightning Vote account or otherwise using Lightning Vote, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") and to our Community Guidelines, which are incorporated into these Terms by reference. If you do not agree, do not use Lightning Vote.
You must be at least 13 years old to create a Lightning Vote account or use Lightning Vote. By using Lightning Vote, you represent that you meet this minimum age requirement.
Lightning Vote accounts are created through our sign-in provider (Auth0) using an email address and a one-time code. Once signed in, you choose a public username, which is required to publish posts and is shown alongside everything you post. You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your sign-in access secure.
We may suspend, ban, or otherwise restrict an account for violating these Terms or our Community Guidelines, or place an account into a pending-deletion state, at our discretion.
Lightning Vote lets you publish posts, including "Impeach & Oversight" civic-accountability posts, GIF attachments (sourced from GIPHY - Lightning Vote does not host or store the underlying GIF image data itself, only a reference to it), links, and polls. You retain ownership of the content you post. By posting, you grant Lightning Vote a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, and display that content as part of operating the service.
You are solely responsible for the content you post and for making sure you have the right to post it.
Lightning Vote surfaces political news, public voting-record data, and civic-accountability content from a variety of third-party and public sources, and hosts user-submitted posts and polls on political topics. Nothing on Lightning Vote - whether sourced from a third party or posted by another user - is an endorsement by Lightning Vote, and we do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any political, news, or user-submitted content.
If you believe a post violates our Community Guidelines, you can report it. A report creates a moderation record for review; submitting a report does not automatically remove the reported content. We may remove content, or suspend or ban an account, for violations of these Terms or our Community Guidelines.
Lightning Vote relies on third-party services to operate, including GIPHY (GIF search and hosting), Auth0 (sign-in), Cloudflare (hosting, security, and bot protection), and various public and commercial news and data providers. Lightning Vote uses or may use Google AdSense and other third-party services to support advertising on the Service (see Section 9). Each of these services is governed by its own terms and privacy practices, which we encourage you to review. We are not responsible for the content, availability, or practices of any third-party service or any site you reach through a link posted on Lightning Vote.

Lightning Vote may display advertising, including advertising provided through Google AdSense. Advertising providers may collect or process information as described in our Privacy Policy, which is the detailed source for the cookies, identifiers, and third-party advertising practices this involves. Accepting these Terms does not mean you agree to personalized advertising - see our Privacy Policy for your advertising choices.
You may stop using Lightning Vote at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for violating these Terms or our Community Guidelines. To request deletion of your account, contact us at support@lightning-vote.com.
Lightning Vote is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Lightning Vote is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version and effective date at the top of this page reflect the version currently in effect. Continued use of Lightning Vote after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
